VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day, on 8th May 1945, marked the end of World War II in Europe after Germany's unconditional surrender to the Allies the prior day. This surrender came just over a week after the death of Adolf Hitler. VE Day was a time of immense celebration and relief following years of intense conflict and suffering, with people across the continent rejoicing in the news of peace. Although the war in Europe was over, the conflict in the Pacific continued, and the full impact of the war would be felt for years to come.

As we remember those who fell during WW2, we must also look at the Liberation days celebrated by those countries who were under Nazi rule and had to go about their everyday lives or were fighting against tyranny from within. So we also should take note of the following countries who celebrate Liberation day this time of the year.

To mark the 80th Anniversary of VE Day TAW Hell Let Loose will be hosting a special event on Sunday 4th May.
