Exotic weapons and armor in Dauntless are end-game equipment that are very rare to find. They have a unique design and perks designed to provide alternative gameplay.

Exotics are extremely hard to craft and upgrade. The materials needed come from end-game Heroic-difficulty Behemoths and some require specific criteria before you receive them as quest rewards.

Each Exotic Has A Special Perk
Each Exotic has a unique perk, depending one what is equipped. Weapons have special attacks that are different from other weapons in its category while armor have unique status boosts & perks that can change the tide of the hunt.
Needs Blueprints To Unlock Crafting
To be able to get access to any Exotic, you'll first need its Blueprints. These are extremely rare drops from Heroic Patrols or specific Heroic-level Behemoths. Getting the Blueprints will allow you to craft the Exotic.
How To Get Exotics Blueprints
Successfully Complete Heroic Or Heroic+ Patrols
To get a chance for an Exotic Blueprint drop, you'll need to successfully complete Heroic or Heroic+ Patrols in Dauntless for a chance to earn these items. These can be very difficulty quests, so be sure to be fully-geared before attempting these Patrols.
Defeat Specific Behemoths For Certain Blueprints
Specific Behemoths have a chance to drop certain Exotic Blueprints. These Behemoths also need to be in Heroic-difficulty levels so be prepared for a challenge.

Tips To Unlocking Exotic Gear
Farm Heroic Patrols For Higher Drop Chance
When you're looking to get an Exotic Blueprint, make sure to keep farming Heroic Patrols. This may be difficult to complete but this way you'll get more chances in receiving the rare Exotic Blueprint drop, no matter the Behemoth you fight.
Keep Defeating Behemoth That Drops Exotic Gear
If you're targeting a specific Exotic weapon or armor, make sure you know which Behemoth has a chance to drop its Blueprints. Keep defeating that specific Behemoth until the drop
