Hood: Outlaws & Legends, developed by Sumo Newcastle and published by Focus Home Interactive, is a Third-Person, Multiplayer stealth action game, set to release May 10th, with early access to per-orders on May 7th.
Players are thrust into a world, where a merciless, unchecked state controls the land and power, oppressing the common folk and starving them. To win influence among the folks, and loosen the grip of the oppressors, players must perform daring heists to hit the wealthy where it hurts, all while deciding whether to be a folk hero who gives, or a gold hungry greedy outlaw.
The player is part of a team of 4, who is competing against another team, in order to execute the perfect heist. This starts off by infiltrating the area, and stealing the key of the vault from the infamous Sheriff of Nottingham, who is a boss character in the game. This can be done via stealth or open combat, though both have to be done while also avoiding the rival team, whose task is the same.
After stealing the key, players must then find the location of the vault, using clues given to them in game. The opposing team is also notified, and will try their best to steal the key from the player, while also locating the vault themselves. This part of the heist requires stealth, as any open action alerts the guards, who call for reinforcements, closing off certain areas and making access to the vault harder.
In comes the final step. ESCAPE! Plundering the vault and taking its riches for yourself will come with difficulties. Has your process so far been quiet and smooth? Escape should be easy for you, if you manage to handle the other team. Have you been a lunatic and stormed your way into the vault? Well, prepare to fight hard for your gold.
With the gold they earn from completing Heists, players are given the choice between keeping the gold or giving it to the poor. Doing the former allows the player to purchase cosmetics and perks they can use to further steal more gold in heists, while doing the latter gains favor with the common folk, who will upgrade the player's hideout, and let them acquire special perks from said upgrades. Both paths will require the player to think hard about their hard earned stolen gold!
The game can be played with 3 other friends, or 7 others in custom lobbies, and there is crossplay matchmaking between platforms. The game will be using Dedicated servers to host its matches, and will feature a Battle Pass post launch feature, allowing players to earn exclusive cosmetics and content.
