Time to introduce and some questions

Hey I'm EvilMarshy or Marshy/Evil is good enough. (Don't worry I'm far from Evil, just angsty aliases from 20 years ago stick)

I've been playing SC2 on and off for a while now and now I've decided to try and take my play a little further and to be able to find people to play games with. Feel free to bug me at any time for practice games, at this time I'm sitting in Gold3. I also like to play other RTS and strategy games.

Now for my question:

There is that Swiss Tournament tonight. I see that it seems to be an ongoing thing, but what does that mean for new members like me? Do we turn up and get seeded with suitable players or is this something we have to turn up to spectate?
